    ioan_dragulescu,

From what I can tell it looks like the Z630S might get the upgrade, but the Z630 does not. Of course, everything is always subject to change without notice, but that is what I can see the plan is for now. Smiley Frustrated

Thank you very much for your answer though it's not very good news. Can you give me a reason why that is ? I mean it's a really new phone, and I don't think it's a matter of hardware involved...

    Tnx

    ioan_dragulescu,

To be honest I do not have any information showing me why it would not get an update, but stuff changes like the wind blows sometimes so it might get added.

From what I can tell though, the more and more I look at it, most of the time a phone or tablet does not get an upgrade is due to the hardware specifications; like memory, processor, or space limitations.

I've read it is possible now, but I haven't tried it myself yet, or at least I haven't been successful to install the latest system update because I was prompted with a "checksum error" message.

It has been quite sometime now, and yet I haven't really heard any news regarding this matter whereas its twin, Z630s, has received the Mallows update a long time ago.

It isn't my fault that only Z630 was available when I bought. -_-

Well, the 630s looks to be a bit more powerfull:

              630s                  630

    ram     3gb                  1 or 2

    CPU     8 cores            4 cores

    space   32 gb                16 gb

maybe that's why ? although I have no ideea about system requirements betweem lolipop and marshmallow ....

    Hi everybody,
As I heard from Acer Germany, Marshmallow isn't on the Acer Liquid Z630S toi..
It's not a "System Requirement" problem on the Acer Liquid Z630, because the Zest Plus has the same CPU and quantity of RAM and it runs on Android Marshmallow, the problem is that the development of update need engineers and it cost naturally money..

Acer France has already launched Z630s Mallows update since August 8.

No, definitely not. Acer Liquid Zet Plus, for example, has almost the same specs as Z630 (16gb storage, 2gb RAM, 1.3 GHz processor) but it is MARSHMALLOWS. -_-

Motorola has managed to release Marshmallow on their Moto E LTE (2nd generation) with 1 GB RAM, quad-core snapdragon 410, and 8 GB internal storage.

Unofficial ports of Marshmallow have been produced by the open-source community for the Moto E 1st generation with a snapgradon 200, 4GB internal storage and 1 GB RAM.

BLU has managed to squeeze Marshmallow onto a device with 4 GB internal storage and 512 MB RAM.

I don't think the specification differences noted above between the Liquid Z630s and the Liquid Z630 would be dealbreakers. Of course there could be other hidden specification differences which present a tangible roadblock.

Or it could simply be a question of limited engineering human resources available to actually do the development work.

We will see that soon if the Acer Liquid Z630 will get Android M.
But the brand hasn't promised update on this device..
    We can wait and see.
If someone can port Z630S Marshmallow ROM on the Z630 It will be good, and I think it's not too difficult because the two devices has a lot of same components.
