How am I using DDR3 on my E725? Am I misinformed? Please help verify.

My used E725 laptop has been running a bit slow, so I decided I'd check out what Speccy (program that reports the specs of your computer) had to say in regards to the speed it's operating at and what-not. The laptop has a T4400 processor (800Mhz FSB) using the GL40 chipset (667/800Mhz bus) and the motherboard model is reported as "eMachines eMachines E725 (uPGA-478)".

There are two sticks of RAM: one 2Gb stick part number M471B5673EH1-CF8, and one 1Gb stick part number HMT112S6BFR6C-G7. Both these sticks are DDR3 up to 1066Mhz. These numbers were confirmed with CPU-Z as well as physically checking them.

From what I can see, the E725 can only accept up to DDR2 667Mhz. Crucial's System Scanner only shows DDR2 being compatible, up to 800Mhz.

Do I have the wrong RAM installed? I don't know how it's in there since DDR2 and DDR3 have different pin configurations. I'm probably going to upgrade the RAM anyways, and I'd like to know what should be in there.

Thanks.

The only real way to be certain is to remove the memory and check the part numbers on the memory themselves. Also, what is the part number of the motherboard you are using?
