is it normal for a hard drive to go out twice in two years?

This month my NV53A76u laptop computer will be 2 years old.  Before my warranty expired, they had to replace the battery which did not even power my computer for 2 hours and became very hot - the original and the replacement.  And, Acer had to replace my hard drive and my camera.  After that, (I did not buy an extended warranty), it has been shutting off when it wants to, now it says to replace or repair the hard disk.  I think my computer should last more than two years without all this trouble.  Does anyone know who I can contact to express my complete dissatisfaction with my present computer.  I have a Gateway desktop that still runs well, that is now over 5 years old.

P.S. Should this hard drive have a warranty?

It is not normal to have to replace a hard drive 2 times in 2 years.  Many factors can contribute to hard drives failing. Since the hard disk is a moving part, it does contain components that can fail. If the computer is bumped, droped, or moved aggressively while the hard drive is spinning, it can increase the likelihood that the drive will fail. The hard drive is covered as part of the computers standard warranty. I would recommend you contact Acer support for your region to inquire about setting your unit up for service.
