New Acer monitor S220HQL, colour faded at the bottom of the screen

I've just purchased a new monitor from Currys, an Acer S220HQL and the colour is faded at the base of the screen, almost as if the backlight is too bright in that location.

When displaying a solid colour theres a clear difference in the bottom of the screen and the top of the screen, adjusting the contrast/brightness makes no difference as the top of the screen is always slightly darker than the base.

Ive tried a few different leads with this monitor (DVI/ HDMI to DVI, and VGA)  and the monitor has the same issues with all leads.
 Ive also tried another monitor and that has no such issues with the display

The odd thing is that i know someone else with an acer computer/desktop and that monitor ( also Acer) has similar issues, however its not a problem for that person

This is what Red looks like, no matter what I do with the contrast/brightness the issue is still there
