Iconia One 7: Can't save app data to SD card.

I have an Iconia One 7 (B1-770) tablet.

It is running Android 5.0.1.

Not only can I not move app data to the SD card (usually seen as an option in Settings -> General -> Apps), apps which explicitly support saving their data on the card (e.g. osmand, Olive Tree Bible study) either don't "see" the card, or return an error writing to it.

The "Default Write Disk" setting does not seem to do anything (I have it set to SD card).

I do note that some apps which do work with the card (ES File Explorer, WPS Office) specifically ask the user to identify the path to the root (directory) of the SD card before proceedings.

I understand this is due to the "WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE_PERMISSION" requirement in Android 4+.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Greg

I have exactly the same problem with my Iconia One 7.

More than that, with the Google Music app i can't even set the SD Card as the defaut directory for the song download (the option is grayed).

    Some updated information.

I have noticed that the tablet DOES save downloads, photos, etc. when the "Write Default" is set to SD card.

Apps which allow you to specify the data location (ex. OSMAND, DosBox Turbo) will work with the SD Card only if you create the correct directory/subdirectory structure.

In general if is /storage/sdcard1/android/data/APP_NAME/files.  Replace APP_NAME with whatever the app uses in /storage/sdcard0/android/data/...

Oddly this didn't work the first time I tried it with ../net.osmand.plus/files, but it did (using the exact same path) later.

Still out of luck with apps that don't let me manually configure the path to the SD card though.

    HTH,
