Iconia One 10 Tablet disconnects from wifi and needs to be restarted. Can anyone advise?

I don't know if there's a fault with the tablet or how it's been set up. A Christmas present to my wife to replace her older Kindle Fire, she's a bit hacked off. 

Any suggestions welcome.

    Can you describe better when it disconnects and about "restarted"...do you mean the wifi or the tablet?

    The tablet seems to disconnect when moving between webpages/websites or it locks up in the middle of a movie - even just scrolling down Facebook. A network connection error usually follows. (I know the wifi is fine since smartphone and laptop are still connected.)

    When the tablet is switched off and switched on again it connects to the wifi hub again without problem - for a little while then the error reappers.

    let's try this:

    settings/wifi (tap on wifi label)

    looking at the bottom right or top right of your screen, tap on the 3 dots, choose advanced

    now check if you have this setting:

    wifi optimisation

    please untick it

     

    turn off and on your tablet and check if your wifi still drops.

    Hi - there is no 'optimisation' option on that menu. Sorry. Thanks for your time on this.

     should perhaps have added that after restarting the tablet the wallpaper has always returned to the default. ?

    Have you already chcked if any system update is available?
    Settings/abouy tablet/system updates

    I also suggest you to try a factory reset, backup your personal data first.
    Settings/backup&reset - factory data reset

    Yes I've tried downloading updates - locks out of internet/wi-fi. and have tried a factory settings reset too.
    I think I'm going to return it to the store tomorrow and try a replacement. My wife loves the tablet but is annoyed with all the hassles.
