My horrible experience with ACER XB240H 144hz monitor !

Hello all ,

About 2 months ago i upgraded from 60hz  Dell VA panel monitor to 144hz Acer Xb240h  monitor (Non Gsync).

This monitor was advertised as acer xb240h  when i bought it  and there was no mention of whether it has gsync or not . I assumed it was gsync as it was sold rest of the world as a  gsync monitor  .  This model is not  even mentioned  on ACER india website .

The monitor arrived  and very quickly came to know that its non gsync version and also had no ulmb .  I was hoping  now that atleast the 144hz  1ms response would work as its very important for me at competitive  counter strike .

The monitor came with  display port cable , DVI  and vga cable . Out of the box the monitor looked very bright  and the colours looked washed out .  There were no drivers that came with it .   I downloaded the drivers from acer website  and managed to install the unsigned drivers . Changed  the montior refresh rate to 144hz both in nvidia  and  display panel .

Now there was hardly any difference between my old  dell va  panel 60hz to  144hz acer xb240h . I  tried  messing with  monitor OSD menu .  The monitor osd shows it as running 143 hz 1920 x 1080   even if  i run the game at 1024 x 768  144hz . Half of the monitor OSD doesnt work - auto config , wide setting , clock , focus etc dont work . The text also looks fuzzy compared to my old  dell 60hz .

Thinking it was a software issue  i  tried  fresh install of windows 10,8 and 8.1  and it made no difference . Tried  both display port cable and DVI cable that came with it .

Testing it on testufo.com  shows it as running 144hz  but in reality  it feels same as 60hz .  It feels like there is frame skipping?   I can hardly find people with same monitor  to see if they are experiencing similar issues  as this monitor is hardly sold .

The closest thing I found on the internet is  that some of the aoc monitors are suffering from this as well -https://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/comments/3jlgny/new_monitor_144hz_looks_exactly_like_60hz_not/ .

After 2 months of troubleshooting it seems like its a manfacturing defect or acer faking  it as 144hz panel  Smiley Sad .

I cant understand why acer is selling old junk  with  premium price  of  a gsync monitor here in India .

I regret  not buying BENQ Smiley Sad  .

Any solution to this ?
