When I was using this laptop, the screen suddenly turned really really dark. If I looked closely I could see that the webpage open was still there and everything else as it should be. I turned the laptop off and then on again however now nothing can be seen even when I look closely. I know the laptop is on as it is charged and the fan is heard. I have tried adjusting the brightness (obviously) and know it is nothing to do with this. In addition I have tried the 'F' keys (e.g. F1,F2 etc) as suggested on some websites and also tried resetting the battery using the pin hole at the back on the laptop yet nothing has occurred. I would be grateful if an expert or someone who has had a similar problem and resolved it could reply so I am able to continue using my laptop. Thank you.

    Hi ace14

Try connecting your laptop to an external screen (monitor or TV) via HDMI. If the laptop screen is displayed externally, then your laptop screen will be at fault.

Is your laptop still under warranty? If so contact support who will arrange a repair. If it is out of warranty, then if you're capable, you may be able to repair/replace it yourself. Ideally try your local computer repair shop.

In the end I just decided to take the laptop to a repair shop nearby. Initially they were unaware what the fault was but after testing the laptop they found that a wire had been knocked or something similar and so they replaced that and also replaced the screen.
