My Wireless adapter has disappeared...

I recently had a number of issues with my laptop...

Power socket loose. My local repair shop soldered it back.

Then find out battery is dead and not charging.

Replace the battery myself and now the wireless adapter is not visible in the device manager.

Tried resetting to defaults and even a Windows 10 reset. None have worked.

Could whatever killed the battery also affected the wireless adapter? The battery was less than a year old and working fine up till the point it appeared not to be charging up... traced to fault power connected. Then soon as that was fixed I find out battery is dead. Could there have been some electrical fault that fried the battery and wireless adapter?

Or could my repair guy have disconnected the wireless adpater during repairs?

If anyone could show what/where the wireless adapter is I can at least check to see if looks connected.

Thanks

  • Hello,

Have you tried to load the default settings in the bios setup utility?

  • Hello,

    1. Have you checked if the wlan board is correctly inserted?
    2. What model do you own exactly?

    Thanks... its a 591. i5 with 256Gb SSD and 4Gb Ram.

Looking at images on the internet of the insides it would appear that all connectors to the wireless card are in place. I've checked the cables and reseated them.

  • Hello,

    I need more information:

Could you give me the first ten characters of the computer serial number (S/N)? Only the first ten.

In this case, your WLAN board is certainly defective.
