Received my new X34 yesterday.  Thankfully, it is free of any of the major issues.  However, pressing the power on/off button does nothing.  Can somebody conmfirm that pressing your power button, the monitor actually turns off and on.

The button should depress much like you would assume a button to work.  Sounds defective to me.

Yep, the right-most button underneath the right-side of the monitor should turn the monitor power on and off.

You can either contact the merhant you bought it from and get a replacement under your consumer returns laws, or as there are no other problems with your monitor, you could first register online for your product warranty then contact Acer support to arrange a courier service to collect your monitor and have it repaired under warranty.  It shouldn't cost you anything and there will be a turnaround of 7-10 working days (maybe slightly longer due to Xmas and NY).

You could also keep it and make do but not being able to turn the monitor on and off via the buttons is going to be quite a pain.  Just ensure that if you do send it back to the merchant or to Acer that you put a note on the screen with the problem clearly explained before sending it off so the person unboxing it can see.  I would also advise taking photos of the monitor before you send it off as well as photos of it in the packaging/box so you have proof that you packaged it properly before departure... it just covers you for anything unfortunate that might happen during transit Smiley Happy
