My Touchpad Appears Only as a HID Compliant Mouse

After doing a system refresh, my precision touchpad no longer shows up as such in my Control Panel, showing up only as an "HID compliant Mouse".  This is a problem for me because 1) I like to disable it while my mouse is connected, 2) I like to turn off the tap function on the pad, and 3) it no longer serves as a precision touchpad.  My computer is an Aspire E5-772G-56AJ.

I tried downloading and installing the drivers from the site, but it made no difference.  I'm now simply disabling the touchpad, but of course, I'd rather not do that.  How do I get my computer to recognize it as a touchpad, so that I get all of my options back?
