Need help with an h233h

I know someone else has had this issue but there was no resolution provided that I could see. My Acer H233H monitor is stuck in some sort of "factory mode" where it simply cycles through colors. None of the buttons will respond so I am unable to access any controls. I have already tried leaving the monitor unplugged from both power and the display connection for an hour plus but I still get the same results when plugging the monitor back in. I own several other models of acer monitors and have never seen this before. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I hate to say it, but I ended up trading away my defective "stuck in 'test' mode" H233H monitor to someone else who was really interested in playing with it.  About a week or so after I gave it to him, he contacted me to tell me it was working again.  He said he was trying combinations of pushing the capacitive 'buttons' with and without the power button and it suddenly went back to normal operation and has stayed that way since.  Unfortunately, he didn't know exactly what combination worked.....sorry.

Thanks for the idea I tried a whole bunch of combinations. After frustration I just threw the monitor away. There was someone else with the same issue and Acer actually repaired the monitor out of warranty for him which I thought was great service. Unforunately my post was completely ignored by the Acer folks I responded to the original post they didn't like what I had to say so they removed the post which is their right as this is their forum. Based on the lack of help and their reaction to a little venting I'm not going to be buying anymore Acer products in the future either for myself or my company.

I didn't realize you were the guy who posted the original post. Well I'm glad someone got use out of the monitor.

Sorry you'd found it so frustrating and decided to trash it.  I actually bought three of them.  THe one that went bad was my daughter's that I'd borrowed after she bought a new system with a new and bigger monitor.  It was still working before I'd disconnected it from the old system but started cycling the colored screens when I connected it to another system a moth later.  I thought it was a bad display card until I realized that except for the video source and power buttons the rest of the 'buttons' were non-functional  The other two monitors are still working fine and the third one was supposed to replace an old 21" CRT monitor that finally gave up.  When I had the problem I was fortunate to have "Justin" working on the problem (who's now left Acer from what I've read).

Acer did finally offer to reflash the firmware out of warranty but I didn't see their offer until after I'd already traded off the defective monitor for another smaller but working LCD monitor.

Sorry to hear that Acer was unresponsive in your case.  You would think that they'd respond more positively if Acer Customer Services and their Engineering Department hear about this problem for more than one customer.

I actually have 2 more acer monitors in my home currently they're different models but they're functioning perfectly. I even have a very old acer laptop that was released in 2009 that still works perfectly as well. I've bought a fairly large number of them for my business. I'm in the I/T department so I buy a lot of monitors for the company. Prior to this incident I always thought acer offered affordable reliable equipment. But there's just no excuse for these monitors behaving this way. I'm sure it's a manufacturing defect and I'm sure we're not the only ones to have experienced this. We're simply the only 2 that have registered for this forum and posted about it so we're a tiny minority. I knew it wasn't my computer after I unplugged the monitor from the computer and simply plugged it into power and it did the same thing and then I connected another monitor to the computer and it functioned normally.
