My ACER LCD monitor does not turn on when my iMac wakes from sleep.

I have an ACER LCD monitor connected to my iMac and when the Mac goes to sleep the ACER goes off. When the main screen wakes up the ACER stays off. Sometimes I can get it to wake up by unplugging it and then plugging it back in but that's not really an ideal solution. I've tried switching the video port I use on the computer, I tries using the other exit port on the back of the monitor, I've tried changing the cables and plugs. Nothing helps. Once the **bleep** thing gets turned back on it works fine, until the next time the computer goes to sleep mode.

Does anyone know what causes this behavior and what to do to fix it? Can it be fixed or is the monitor trash now.

    gfranco,

It sounds like the monitor is not receiving a signal from the iMac when it comes out of sleep mode. Do you have another computer that you can connect this monitor to see if the same issue occurs?

I have tried that. I got a new iMac and tried the old monitor as a plug in. Usually it takes about 20 min or so before it shows anything after the iMac wakes from sleep... but at least it does go oin. Then it goes off again and the other screens I have all flicker on and off for awhile. Eventually the Acer come sback on. It's like it has a limited kind of connection that comes and goes.

    gfranco,

Which monitor are you using with your iMac?

When you say other screens, how many are we talking here? Smiley Happy

Also, are you using some sort of adapter or such for this monitor?
