First I want to say I don't work for Acer, Gateway or any software/hardware companies....

I am not sure how that works. But if you have a CAO that is for the Software of your other machine (Both Machines have different CAO) then I would say try and use the Restore. Just use the CAO from your Bear Drive system not the one you have already.....

Last time I had to do that was back in Win 2000 Pro days on one of my Dell machines. Lots of things have changed since then and maybe it is hardware specific Restore systems now. If you put the bootable Restore disk in and it don't want to work becasue it isn't the right hardware then you know it is system specific.

If they still have them or offer them like Acer does, Maybe you can get your Restore from them if it don't work. You would go to the Support page, or store page and put in the snid for your system and it will tell you the cost for a replacement of the software All the ones I have looked up says it would only be 19 for Recovery so that isn't to bad....

EDIT: I just went to Acer store and put in my Laptops SNID and for 19.95 USD they will send RCD for Spicific machine "RCDs will contain a Recovery DVD, System CD, & Language Disc (Windows 7 and Windows 8 OS)" you can get them from here... https://store.acer.com/en-us/extended/recovery/ End of Edit:

    Hope this helps some
