So earlier my friend asked how to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10.
However, I found out that his Windows 7 is not genuine. He explained that he bought a laptop with genuine and activated Windows 7 Home Premium installed formerly; however, after several times of reinstalling (clean install), he lost the genuine Windows.
I helped by finding the product key and trying to activate, but the result is error. The message said the product key entered is a default product key for Windows 7 and that he should find a new product key for the same edition.
- For information, my laptop and his are of the same brand and model, which is Acer Aspire V5-471G
- I have 32-bit Operating System, he has 64-bit OS.
- My Windows is currently Windows 10 Pro (upgraded from Win7) and his is Windows 7 Home Premium
- Both laptop came with Windows 7 Home Premium preinstalled
- We both reinstalled our Windows several times (someone else did that for us); however, mine had been upgraded to Ultimate edition but his remains the same.
- And for some reasons, he lost his genuine Windows but I didn't.
So I would like to know how to get his genuine Windows 7 back.
Also, can I use my former Windows 7 Ultimate (before upgrading to Windows 10) to activate his Windows 7 after upgrading to Ultimate ?
