XC-605 not yet getting Win10?

I have a Aspire XC-605 (SPREQ.105) that I bought in January.

It came with Linux preinstalled but since I had an unused Win7 license I installed Win7 pro (x64). It runs fine and I got the Win10 notification this summer.

But since then, all it says is "We're validating Windows 10 for your PC." ????

Thanks. But it turned out that wasn't the problem.

Putting this here for someone to find if they search. The solution was to make sure that auto logon was not enabled and that the administrator account was enabled, had a password and was logged on to at least once.

If Microsoft would just list the prerequisites (all of them) somewhere, it would be much easier to troubleshoot.

Have you looked in your device manager to make sure all devices are installed? Could be something in there holding it up?

I would say as long as the lic is ok and you have done all the updates, if it isn't getting you past the last step. I would use a MS account and do a support chat at Microsoft. They can do a remote connection and ran a few things to make 10 go if it's needed. I needed that on a couple of my computers that was being a pain. If after a week the up date don't happen with mine, I contact MS. Had one I took back to 7 and it wouldn't do updates anymore so I could get 10back on. Didn't have a DVD to do a clean install seeing only one I had was 64bit. It was 32 bit system. After5 minutes 10 was installing again.

Doesn't help since I would really like to upgrade not do a fresh install this time (I usually do fresh installs if I can).

RevoMaxx: I do have an exclamation mark next to an audio device. Seems like a duplicate device or something.

Will look into that and see what happens.

you can do the upgrade even using the download tool from microsoft.

by the way, you need to check that all windows update are installed, also the suggested and as Revo stated, no issues are present on device manager.

    I'm not an Acer employee.

I wonder if you have some new hardware installed? If you put in say another GPU and you have a driver missing from your list of things in Device Manager, I would make sure that you have them all installed right.....

If you don't have a new items install in your case and all is from factory.... I am wondering if your issue isn't with your HDMI Audio. IN most cases today there are 2 Audio devices in manager if there is an HDMI because it has its own audio for that port along side your intergrated soundcard.... Maybe try this, IF you right click that one with the mark next to it, Click uninstall is that is an option, if not try to update the driver. However if you can un install it then restart your computer.... With hope that your connected to the internet when you turn your computer back on it will look for a good driver for your new hardware.... ONce installed click the button for windows 10 and try and see if you can move on from there.
