Where can I report some serious error in Aspire Series Service Guide (160 pages)?

There are some serious errors that needs to be corrected. Service Guides are used longer than products are sold. With this error present the reader assumes things and may break their laptop when trying to obey the guide literally.

Acer site has no clear place where one could report errors and bugs or if it does it is nowhere easily found which makes me think they learly do not understand customer reclamation should be consired a gift (free work) for them.

This is a PDF print titled "Aspire Series Service Guide" with a text box of "Service Guide files and updates are available on the ACER/CSD web; for more information, please refer to ***

There is no model in the title not even the word Acer in the title (as you can see from my quote) which is one thing that makes it look rather non-professional if I may say so when I write user manuals for electronics myself as my day job. I used this for Acer Aspire 7745G but clearly it is meant for some other models too with the same structure.

A little example of this nonsense in it:

Page 52: "7. Remove the twenty two (22) screws in the lower cover."

Actully there are 26 screws in the lower cover that MUST ALL be removed to proceed. The picture is from the right model but it has 24 callouts of the screws and is missing the last 2 callouts. I almost broke my upper case while pulling and believing 22-24 screws are the correct information.

anything that you found/find or will find outside official Acer channels, can't be trusted and it's up to you to use it or not, Acer will be not responsible for damages.

It is silly to believe any other party than Acer would make 160 page Service Guide for Acer product and I'm not referring someone should be responsible for this, but instead offering a change to improve poor quality of this document to save further users from using it in that condition. Besides I never said I got this outside official Acer channels, I could be ASP without you knowing it.

But looks like this Service Guide is not available in any public Acer site, but is easily found with Google. Acer seems to have different policy than for DELL example which has Service Guides available in like User Manuals.

i suppose that if you are ASP, you can reach someone that can fix that and not post it in a community forum. Smiley Wink

    Hi Hanzu,

Thank you for the taking the time to help us improve our service guides. Unfortunately, the service guides online are not publicly released from Acer and generally illegally obtained. They are out of date and while I'd love to say we could stop this from happened, I think we all understand how the internet works.

While I'm not able to help with a Service Guide that has been obtained on the net, if this was obtained as part of your regions ASP program, they should be able to assist in understanding the issues and/or obtaining an updated service guide.
