ES1-512-C29D SATA Speed

I've recently hooked a SSD Crucial MX100 and 8Gb GSkill memory on my ES1-512-C29D

But I'm only getting SATA II speeds using CrystalDiskMark

Does this board support SATA III?

What does Crucial System scanner say?  On my desktop, it says sata 3    6 Gb/s

Can you post a screenshot of AS-SSD?

Edit: Check for BIOS update too.

To find your current BIOS version:

    1. Right click on windows start button

    2. Left click on run

    3. Type msinfo32

    4. Click ok

Updated BIOS to the latest version

    Crucial app says it's Sata 3 - 6 Gbps

But still have SATA II speeds...

Updated the SSD firmware to MU02 and it's even slower a couple MB/s

I honestly don't know why it's running at SATA 2 speeds.  Maybe someone who knows about your laptop or Acer laptops in general can give you a suggestion.  I assume that you just have that one SATA 3 port that your mx100 is connected to.

Unless youre working with very large files, your probably not going to notice a lot of difference between SATA 2 and SATA 3 on your laptop w/ SSD, but I can definitely understand why you want to know what the problem is.

    It's only SATA II unfortunately

Intel Bay Trail chipsets only have sata II, I've checked the specs now

Consedering this is a laptop manufactored late last year, it's pretty bad

But the speed is quite the same

I was kinda curious to check SATA III speeds

I own a desktop from 2006 with an exact same SSD and also runs at SATA II, with such time difference

Thanks for the update. I didn't realize bay trail was sata2.  I too thought that since it was so new, it would be SATA 3. I guess the crucial scanner looks at drive and not port.
