Has anybody else had problems with iconia A500 freezing and flashing?

My Acer Iconia A500 is a little over a year old and is prone to freezing, any time from startup onwards.  It can be during games, reading ebooks, browsing, anytime at all.  I then have to put it into sleep mode, repress the power button to reawaken it, and try again.  I just had this happen 15 times during a two minute round of a game.  It also "flashes" i.e. screen might zoom up or diminish in size, controls might suddenly be selected, keyboard sometimes appears and starts putting up random characters on the screen.   It has become constant torment when I am using the thing.  It happens without any warning, every time I use the tablet it happens to some degree, and for no apparent reason.  It always happens if I open an app then turn the tablet around from a horizontal to a vertical view, or vice versa.  It is driving me up the wall.  Any clues?

Have you tried removing applications off of your device to see if it is software causing the system to freeze? You could try resetting your tablet using the instructions at http://acer-ame.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/11986. If that does not resolve your issue, I recommend you contact technical support in your region to inquire about setting your tablet up for service.

Screen zooms happen with apps made for phone size screens. (This means the app developer has ignored tablet screen sizes)

Controls, keyboard appearing suddenly is usually from slight touches on the side of the screen. This can also happen if the screen is moist or greasy.

Freezing such as slowing down and then becoming unresponsive in chrome or gmail is due to too many apps running in ICS. (The solution is either go to settings and kill off running apps that are hogging memory, or just restarting.)

Screen reorientation will always cause a brief pause in the app, for any android it runs on, it is only the mid 2012 & 2013 android devices which are fast enough to have no noticable pause in reorientation.

    Cheers.

I am frustrated with this too. Be it email, any of them, Settings, browsers, file managers, etc.  I am ready to tell everyone on my groups Not to buy Acer. If they only realized keeping their customers happy, meant keeping customers! I hadn't had my A500 very long when it was acting up. I sent it in for repair, but all it was was a reset which I could have done. Never worked one bit better, and now is almost every few minutes it acts up, and I have nothing else running! I got it because it had a SD and USB ports and I have it to help me in my hobby. But if I can't get in when I want what's the use? I have to quit as even the keyboard quits in the middle of typing!. Thumbs down on Acer anymore!
