E5-571G-71CU touchpad driver issues

Hey,

I got friends new E15 to install Windows 10 Pro x64 on, it came without software (Linpus Linux installer was on HDD).

The touchpad works all-right, scrolling and some gestures too, but it will not install the drivers correctly from Acer site or from Synaptics site, it seems to be Synaptics I2C device - HID\VEN_SYN&DEV_1B7E&Col04.

There are 4 entries for the touchpad under HID and one under Mice and other pointing devices, all but one show generic MS drivers (HID-compliant touchpad, I2C HID device, Microsoft Input Configuration Device under HID and HID-compliant mouse under Mice and other pointing devices) and one entry (Synaptics HID device under HID) that is atm. Synaptics 19.0.7.31 from Acer Downloads.

The driver installation programs do not give errors, they install quickly and apparently successfully, but after that there are no Synaptics or Elan folders under Program Files, and msconfig shows no processes or startup items for touchpad.

Updating drivers from Device Manager always come up with "best drivers already in use" message.

I have checked and done following:

BIOS - updated to the latest version 1.31, checked that Boot mode is on UEFI (default) and Touchpad is set to Advanced (not default).

Installed Intel chipset and IO drivers first.

Have tried the drivers from Acer download (Synaptics and Elantech) and from Synaptics (PS/2 and I2C - 19.0.19.1) - normal and Run as administrator way.

Uninstalled and removed all touchpad entries in Device Manager, tried installing the drivers after that.

Tried the same in safe mode.

Used CCleaner to clean up registry and tried again.

Reset Windows 10 and tried again.

Edit: Tried to force the drivers in Device Manager to all entries - Update Driver-Browse my computer...-Let me pick a list...-Have Disc... - pointed to dowloaded driver.

Elan drivers were rejected as incompatible, Synaptics drivers were installed, but with various results, none too good. Some made touchpad nonfunctioning, some made no difference and some made the touchpad laggy, none of them gave access to the settings. When I uninstalled them all and scanned for hardware changes the initial settings were restored (4x MS drivers and 1x Synaptics 19.0.7.34 - no longer exactly the same as in Acer dowloads for this laptop which ends with 31).

The touchpad still works after all this, but there is no control panel (device settings tab or tray icon) to fiddle with the settings and the scrolling works in reverse.

What am I missing here?

Edit:

Found solution in this thread http://community.acer.com/t5/S-and-R-Series/Synaptic-Touchpad-Drivers-not-Installing-correctly/td-p/277374/page/4

Apparently this PC has "precision touchpad" and only settings available are found in Start/Settings/Devices/Mouse & touchpad

It is a bit sparse, but will have to do, at least I got scrolling to normal which Windows 10 considers reverse.
