Hello. My monitor acer b286hk connected via the displayport cable (1.2) to the nvidia gtx 670.
When scrolling, moving windows in OS, while watching movies, as well as in games there are clearly marked trails for dynamic objects. So-called "ghosting".
I have this problem on OS X 10.11 and Windows 10 with latest drivers.
But when I switch to PIP-mode this problem is gone and all is ok. This makes me think that the problem in the firmware of the monitor.
In service menu firmware version is V1.01 20140702. Maybe there is already a newer and it need to upgrade?

Thank you.

    urtk,

In your OSD settings, do you have it set to DP 1.2 or 1.1?

DP 1.2 with 60Hz in OSD, of course.

I have the ghosting issue too! It happens with every cable, every OS, every GPU, and every monitor setting I try. It doesn't completely go away when I enable PIP/PBP, but it does very drastically reduce it.

I really hope Acer can get a firmware update out on this, it has really bummed me out and I know a lot of people have not bought this monitor due to its ghosting (just look at the reviews on Newegg for example). It has driven me to the point where I'm seriously considering selling it and buying a different monitor.

I do not see anything about firmware possibly resolving the issue you are having, my suggestion would be to contact the Acer technical support in your region and have the monitor looked at. Please be sure to give them as much detail as possible.

I did contact them twice, nobody knew what ghosting even was and we couldn't even understand each others dialects. They thought it was a mouse problem...

The fact that ghosting is drastically reduced when PIP/PBP is enabled implies there is something wrong with the software of the monitor, which should in theory be able to be fixed in firmware (some Acer monitors are able to adjust the overdrive settings to reduce ghosting, not this one unfortunately).

Now I don't expect Acer to go out of their way and make a firmware update for one person, because why would a company do that? But since so many people are affected by this, I think it would be fairly reasonable.
Of course I'm not a software technician by any means, so I could be wrong. However, if I am, I'd like an explanation as to why an overdrive firmware update is not feasible.

    Thanks

Update: I contacted Acer Customer Support and finally got somebody who knew what ghosting was and scheduled a repair. I'd still like to see a firmware update in the future to mess with the overdrive settings if possible.

Did your monitor ghosting ever get resolved??

I have the exact same issue with my monitor...  When I enable PIP, I have no ghosting issues at all, without PIP I have bad ghosting...

I have the exact same monitor at work, but it's on a newer firmware (confirmed  through the service menu) and it has no issues at all.

I am curious if the service tech fixed your monitor and how...   Debating sending this back for a different one...

    thanks!

Finally, I received my monitor from a service center. In my monitor was replaced panel and motherboard. Now in the service menu firmware – V1.03 20140814, but the problem with ghosting are not gone away.

Acer should recognize that they have released a defective model and did not even going to fix it. I do not see any other way than to sell it and buy monitor of another brand.

I'm sorry, I'll never buy a production of Acer in future.

I Think that is a fair comment, unfortunately I can only speak in regards to UK services, but all repairs are outsourced to repair companies, so really it is of no loss to them if a monitor works or not, since all that happens is that it will end up coming back to them anyway to keep them in a contract with acer.  There is no independant agency that validates or monitors the work these companies do, so your pretty much stuck unless the unit has broken down within 30 days.

But i think acer need to start looking at their customer service since its not on par with their competitors.

    regards
