Other than repeatedly changing the sleep time how can i avoid the display turning off when I am watching a video off microsd card, youtube, showtime anytime, etc.

Shouldnt they keep the display going automatically if the tablet is processing?

yes, normally watching a video will keep up the tablet.

if you don't mind, try a factory reset (you need to backup your personal data to the microSD):

    settings/backup & reset - factory data reset

check if this fix your issue.

    Ace,

Do you know if that answer would apply to online streams as well.

Like if I am watching youtube, showtime anytime, hbogo, netflix, amazon video, etc etc etc?

a factory reset is the first thing to try to check if it's a software issue caused by some application or corrupted file, notice that display sleep time, normally apply when no application is running on screen....so it applies to every application on top screen.

I did some playing with the unit and I was wrong.  It is not that it times out on all video it is only when using chromecast.

    any thoughts?

Do you mean sending a video from your smartphone to chromecast?

have you checked wifi settings on your tablet?

is set to keep wifi awake even if  tablet went to sleep?

settings/wifi, tap on the 3 little dots (normally on the upper right side of the screen or in the bottom left), choose adavanced, keep wifi on during sleep (always)

it seems to keep broadcasting even when it goes to sleep.  But when it goes to sleep I can't manage fast forward, rewind, pause, etc.

When I wake back up it something creates a problem accessing those features again.

    Thanks for the effort
