Hi,

I am having trouble figuring out how to find/enable the camera that is built in with the monitor.

On device manager, I only see my laptop's built in camera under imaging devices. I am trying to use the ACER monitor for skype but it is no where to be found.

If you can give me some instructions to do so, It would be great.

Thank you!

    scho1986,

Could you provide me the letter extensions (after the UT220HQL part) so I can research this for you?

    Hi Justin,

From the back of my monitor I see: acer ut220hql tbmjz.  If that is what you are looking for.

Thank you for looking into it.

    scho1986,

Yes, excatly what I was looking for. Do you have the USB cable plugged in between your monitor and PC?

Yup the USB is connected and the touchscreen is functioning. It doesn't seem to install the camera automatically I don't think. There is only my laptop's integrated camera under imaging device still.

    scho1986,

Thank you, what operating system are you using currently, and by chance, is it an Acer notebook as well?

    scho1986,

Thak you for the PM, that may have helped me figure this out. From what I can tell the camera that it may be referring to is the right and left IR camera sensors (optical touch) that detect where your finger breaks the plane to determine the position you are pointing at for touch functionality, not an actual webcam. Here is a brief description of what I am referring to:

Optical touchscreens are a relatively modern development in touchscreen technology, in which two or more image sensors are placed around the edges (mostly the corners) of the screen. Infrared back lights are placed in the camera's field of view on the other side of the screen. A touch shows up as a shadow and each pair of cameras can then be pinpointed to locate the touch or even measure the size of the touching object. This technology is growing in popularity, due to its scalability, versatility, and affordability, especially for bigger units.

I'm having the same exact problem -- I have 2 Acer monitors (UT220HQL) operating with both touchscreens enabled but no access to either camera.  The manual doesn't even have any information about a camera in it!

As stated above, that model doesn't have a webcam. The cameras are part of the touch screen function.
