Video freezes at start on A100 while playing Xfinity "TV Go" app. Uninstall/Reinstall no help.

So much time has been spent on this situation.  Comcast could not re-create the problem. It's so funny, the 30 second  ad that precedes the program doesn't freeze at all and Comcast's explanation is that the ad emanates from another server.  Go figure!!  In essence, Comcast has concluded the problem is not on their end so, it must be the device. One thing I have noticed is that after freezing, I see a message on the screden that says "Video Buffering" and then the sign disapears but the screen stays frozen.  Appreciate any help from the Acer Community of this one!!

  • Does your tab have Flash Player installed?

ACE philetus, thanks for the reply.  Adobe Flash Player 11.1 is is installed, but when I go into Settings/Apps/, it does not appear on the "Running" list, but it appears on the "Downloaded" list.  What's that all about?  Also, to the right of each app in the running list, the tablet gives me the size of the app and just underneath, the running time.  For instance the "TV Go" app is running at 39:31, then 39:32, then 39.33....., but nothing for the Flash Player.

Some Specs: CPU: Dual Core 1GHz Cortex-A9, Chipset: Nvidia Tegra 2 T20, GPU: ULP GeForce.  Spoke to an Acer technician who concluded  the components of the a100 are outdated and are'nt able to play the newer apps, but the a100 plays Hulu (I'm not a subscriber, just played a free trailer) flawlessly.  What's more intriguing is that the video also freezes on Acers a200, but not on the a500 nor a510.  The tech tested all 4 tablets over a 2 day period. The a100 came to market in early 2011 and I purchased it during Thanksgiving of that same year and then upgraded from Android OS 3.2 to 4.0.3 ICS in 2012 from a download from Acer.

Question, how do I play the TV Go app on VLC?  Does the Flash Player have to uninstalled prior?  I look forward to your reply.

  • Does Flash show up in apps? Maybe uninstall it and go to google apps/Playstore? and download and install it again.

    Is this what you need?

Play a network stream (WebRadio, WebTV, ...)

To open a network stream, open the "File" menu and select the "Open Network Stream" menu item.

    • To open a UDP unicast stream, select UDP/RTP , and set the appropriate UDP port in the selector (it is 1234 for streams sent by a VLC or VLS server).

    • To open a UDP multicast stream, select UDP/RTP multicast. Give the address of the multicast group in the "Address" text input, and select the appropriate UDP port.

    • To open a stream sent over http (Webradios, WebTVs, Shoutcast, Icecast...), ftp, or mms (Microsoft Media Server), select "HTTP/FTP/MMS", and give the corresponding complete URL, (such as http://live.stream.org:8080/live or mms://live.ms.stream.net:8080/live.asf) in the corresponding text input. This also the way to open a RTSP stream with the MacOS X interface.

    • To open a RTSP stream (sent by Darwin Streaming Server, VLC, etc), in the wxWidgets interface, select "RTSP" and give the URL in the text input.

You can start playback by selecting the Ok button.

If you get some stuttering during playback, you can try to increase the size of the read buffer. This can be done in the Open Network Stream dialog box, by selecting the Caching box. You can then choose the amount time (in milliseconds) VLC should store data in its buffer before starting playback.
