Hard drive Failure.

I bought this laptop a couple years ago and within a few days the hard drive started squeaking.  It died completely soon, but I work in IT and had a bunch of hard drives lying around, so I just put a new one in and installed an old copy of Windows 7 I had instead of Windows 8.  But now I want to go back to the Windows 8 that I purchased so I can upgrade it to 8.1.  I just have no idea how I can get this software from Acer and there doesn't seem to be any email option so that I can even ask someone there.  I understand that this computer is a couple years old and out of warranty.  I'm not looking for warranty service, but any way to procure the software that I already paid for would be much appreciated.

Thanks

if you need the original Acer version:

    Acer recovery media
if you are in the US you can buy it:
    http://store.acer.com/store/aceramer/en_US/eRecovery

if you are outside the US, you must call/email your regional Acer support service:
    http://www.acer.com/worldwide/support/

or you can install a Vanilla version of windows 8 without issues on product key, since it's embeeded on BIOS.

    I'm not an Acer employee.

I can't find a copy of Windows 8.  Everywhere I go wants me to take surveys or buy something.  This IS infuriating...

You were indeed helpful.  The store site - not so much.  At least not tonight.  Every time I enter either the serial number or SNID of the laptop in question into the box, the store has a "server error".  This has been happening for at least 3-4 hours.  Guess I'm not supposed to do anything about this tonight.

    But thanks for your help.

OK, I DID find a vanilla Windows 8 iso - made the DVD and installed it.  But now it's insisting on a product ID before it'll activate.  I thought that was in the BIOS?

Also, the store just continues to give a server error as soon as I enter either the serial # or the SNID.  If someone who works for Acer is monitoring this, they should know that that's been the case since early last evening.

    steve01351,

Would you please send me the following information so I can check the Acer Store website for you in a PM (private message)? If it is having issues I can manually sell the discs in our system.

    SNID or serial number
    Contact name
    Contact number
    Email address
    Shipping address
    Purchase date

Thanks Justin, but I ended up calling the number for the store and ordering over the phone.
