I cannot upgrade to Windows 10 because of a blocked Product ID!

Yeah. I performed a Factory Reset on my Aspire 5534 (using authentic discs) and decided that I would upgrade my OS from Windows 7, which came with the device, to Windows 10. Once I finished the reset, I immediately opened Windows Update and began trying to update Windows. I encountered a problem when I couldn't download Service Pack 1, and Windows Update would simply sit there, trying it's best to just download the update. Thinking that I might have done something wrong in the Factory Reset, I performed a Factory Reset once more. This time, I payed close attention to everything that I was doing, and when everything was set up once again, I immediately began to update Windows once more. Once again, it downloaded the first few updates perfectly fine, but when it was Service Pack 1's turn again, it did the same thing. Frustration has set in.

Thinking that, perhaps, Windows had a corrupt file or something, I skipped the entire Factory Reset and just reinstalled Windows. Still, the same problem. Service Pack 1 would NOT download. Windows Update simply sat there, checking for updates. Fine. To the MicroSoft website it was. I manually downloaded the Service Pack 1 file and installed it myself. Still, Windows Update could not find any updates, rather content to sit there and pretend to search for updates. (I left my laptop on for around 16 hours while it did this.) Finally, I decide to subject myself to the Customer Support of MicroSoft. Finally, they link me to the download for Windows 10, and tell me to burn the ISO to a DVD and then install the OS. Well, that's fine and dandy, but then the Windows 10 installer played the same game that the Windows Update did. It sat there, hour after hour, searching for updates. After a final attempt at the Customer Support through MicroSoft, I come to find out that my Product ID is blocked through Acer!

Fine. I'll give Acer a call. Wouldn't you know it? My device is no longer under warranty, and the non-warranty, 1 problem resolution is 100 bucks! I can't the issue solved until I pay the $100. I can't upgrade Windows until the issue is solved. I don't have $100! I have an un-updateable machine now, because....I don't even know!!!! On a side note, I can't even register my Aspire on the Acer website, because apparently it has already been registered. Seriously? What kind of company am I dealing with here?
