hello everyone ,im in desperate need of help. I needed to recover my laptop. I have the booting disc and everything, but it wont let me access the booting options. It is askign me for a  " current password" and tried my log in passowrd but it didnt work. As i was able to access to option screen, I read i should try the safe mode.. Now it wont even let me go to the options. It stays either on the  repairing drive, analizying the system and it would take over an hour ( it took nearly 20 hours, nothing changed), i cant access to the boot options , it wont even go to the recovery options after it is on the repairing screen, it shows a sign that is goign to prompt me to that screen but then it simply resets and goes back to that annoying blue screen of death

    alexthered2013,

Just to make sure, you have a BIOS password (as subject line states) on your system and cannot get your system to boot because you do not know the password? Or is it that you have a Windows password and do not know the password and you are trying to reset/remove it?

hi,i got pass the bio password. It was not that, i needed to press the alt+f8 or f12 to get to where i wanted. Now, i tried to reset it, but after 4 hours it said there was an error. I went  for the quick reset keeping my files.... i Realized now i should have went for the full reset, but as i tried to start the process over, im stuck in this screen. Nothing has happened for the past 2 hrs. This is really stupid, a $1500 laptop, got an error bcus i was laggign on my league of legends game and decided to close it down to continue my game on my mcbook. Following morning i woke up to the blue screen of death.. soooo disapointed at acer/windows20150901_202112.jpg...

    alexthered2013,

I can only think of a couple reasons why you would need to press ALT+F8 or F12, one would be to select something other than the operating system that shipped on the system. Could you please help me understand what I might be missing from your post? If you have changed the configuration of the default setup (partitions, etc.), that might be what is causing you problems at this juncture.

I needed to access the advanced option system. I hit at f10 to access that. U haven't changed any set up or configuration whatsoever. I simply wanted to either knock windows out or try a recovery, I got both win and 10 recovery usb Bootable drive... it won't accept wither one. I even went and dl the windows 8 version u can try for 90 days, just so I could reactivate it later, but it won't accept it. .. and. U simply hit at f8 or f10 to access the menu I was looking for.. if I only hit f2 it prompts me to a password window I thought it was bios pw.

    alexthered2013,

Honestly, I would use the recovery media you created with the system when it advised to do so and reload this to factory defaults that way. If you are having problems getting that process started it could be partitioning problems (which is fine), just blow away all the partitions and use the recovery media you made when asked and it will put it all back to when you took it out of the box for the first time.

    alexthered2013,

If possible, remove the hard drive and memory and see if you can get into the BIOS. If you can, restore defaults (F9) and save and exit to reboot. Power off the system and install the hard drive and a stick of memory (if there are more than one) to see if it will boot.

I did that, as I get to the boot manager, there are no options to display to choose from. No options to scroll up or down???

An see all 3 usb drivws, it's asking me to find the file or wharever... and there are a lot. Also, why is there a recovery drive in my system??? Is there anything I can do with that?? Any file I should be looking for???

    alexthered2013,

The recovery partition is the same as the recovery media, you can try to run that as well.

    alexthered2013,

Using that process does not require any external media, if you have USB devices plugged in to your system.

Right. I've been trying to get to the booting options, where I should be allowed to select the booting device in order to do so correct??? But as I get there hitting at f2, it only tells me to choose the partition, to scroll up or dowb, but there are no options, no usb no cd no hard disk??

Yes sir, been working on it alrdy, tried both recovery and restore.... neither of then worked... and when I plug in the usb, as the pc starts analyzing the boot usb, neither of them is the accepted. I have 3 diff ones. It would still tell me to insert the right image file

I even tried to reset it and remove my files which aren't many... but it detected an error. Before, I have tried to refresh my pc, and decided to keep some of my filrs, as the progress bar went up, it said it could not be finished. Now I'm kinda hoping it would eventy let me reset it, idk

    alexthered2013,

I know that you said you have the Windows 8 recovery drive and the Windows 10 recovery drive, were these drives the recovery media you created using the Acer Recovery Management software?

Which computer is this that you are having issues with so I can try to see what I might be missing?

No. I downloaded them from microsoft. I also have the windows u can try for 90 days, it is not goinf. Hey also, why is it that once I press f2 alone it prompts me to a password window rather than the the booting window where you choose the drives you want to boot up first??? Before, if I press f10, nothinghappened, then somebody hit alt f10 and it worked.. maybe diff key combinations for this particular model?? I don't have my manual handy, this is the model v3-572g-79f2, manufactured may 2014. Smiley Happy
