spontaneous recovery system popup

My new Aspire ATC is working great as far as I can tell.  However, when I was playing a game installed on my C: drive (that I play often), an Acer Recovery System spontaneously popped up. I clicked it,  then there was a screen that prompted me to OK a factory reset, although I would lose everything on my C: drive. Of course I cancelled out.

To me this seemed to indicate that 1) I had requested this reset, which I didn't,  or 2) the system detected a problem that caused the need for the recovery system to run,  which I don't think I do since everything is working perfectly.

Should I be worried about this?  Does this have anything to do with the fact that I have reserved Windows 10?

    kcasey,

I'm pretty sure that popup is trying to remind you to create an Acer factory default USB recovery drive.

I would strongly encourage you to do that right away.

I have two TC-605's and my neighbor has a TC-605.  Some TC-605's only require a 16 GB USB flash drive while others require a 32 GB USB flash drive.  So I would suggest getting a 32 GB USB flash drive.  They're around $9.00 at best buy.

Definitely create a factory default recovery USB drive before you update to Windows 10. (And backup your acer Apps and drivers to DVD too)

Edit: If you don't create a USB factory default backup, and something goes haywire down the road, Acer charges $45 to get the factory default recovery discs.

Thanks so much for interpreting that for me! It makes sense now.
