Acer ES1-111M-C9LS WHEA and Windows 10 upgrade problems.

In July my old travel netbook failed during holidays abroad so I bought a new one just mentioned above Acer ES1-111M.

During set-up I got a "blue screen" error with WHEA message 1st time. After several, trials I was able to get the netbook working. However, the WHEA error and restarts were regular. I went to the shop where I bought and I wanted money back. Unfortunately, they decided to send it to Acer service. I got it back 2 weeks later with message that BIOS was replaced and netbook was succesfully tested.

I was really surprised when the same error apeared. I went to the shop to get money back - my holidays were over. They refused again offerin another service. Since I had no time I took it with me. When I came back home I found a tip to reduce the processor power to 95% under Power Management options. I did it and it seems that WHAE restarting problem disapeared. However, I do not think it is a right way to fix the problem.

Then I started to update the netbook from  Windows 8 to Windows 10. After several trials I gave up. I tried all the update methods and all of them failed. Probably clean Windows 10 installation could work but then I will have a lot of issues to install all the Acer software.

I really regret that I bought Acer. It seem that neither manufacturer nor service have clue what they are producng and servicing. I have never had such problems with any electronic device.

My experience tells me that Acer service in my homeland will refuse to accept the European warranty. It means I bought not a cheap travel laptop but expensive paper weight.

I wonder if someone can help me to resolve the WHEA and Windows 10 update issues.

These are the steps that I would take to put Windows 10 on the computer.

    1. Backup your important files to a USB drive or OneDrive

    2. Create a USB Acer factory default backup

    3.  Reset the PC to factory defaults which will delete all your data/files.....which should be no problem since you backed it up in step 1.  After the computer resets to factory defaults, don't mess with any of your settings.

    4.  Make sure you create a Microsoft account (if you don't have one already).

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-live/sign-up-create-account-how

    5.  Make sure your Windows 8.1 computer has all of the Windows updates.  This might take a few days to get all of the Windows updates and you may have to periodically restart your computer and manually check for updates.

    6.  On a seperate USB drive, download all of the Windows 10 drivers for your computer and extract/unzip them but do not install them at this time.

    http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers

    7.  Use the GET WINDOWS 10 NOW app when the icon eventually appears in the lower right hand side of your screen/taskbar.....and reserve your Windows 10 upgrade.

    8.  Check Windows update in about 24 hours to get Windows 10.

    9.  After your computer upgrades to Windows 10, intall your drivers that you downloaded in step 6.  Make sure you install the Intel chipset driver first.

Be patient.  If you run in to any problems, you may have to start over and use your USB recovery drive that you created in step 2.  If you end up using your USB recovery drive due to problems, be sure to say "yes" if it asks you to re-partition the drive.

Thanks, but I have done it several times without success.

WHEA restart appears every few minutes so I have to change the power settings.I had no chance to complete the Windows 10 update to re-install drivers.

Did you try updating the windows 8.1 chipset driver from Acer's website?

    Yes. I have done it.

    WHEA error is still there.

    95% processor power helps only.

I reserved WIndows 10 a week ago and still waiting for it. Does anybody knows how long time it can take. I have reserved Windows 10 for 2 other pC's and also waiting.

The laptop with the processor power estricted to 95% is working fine. If I increase it to 100% WHEA error apears pretty soon.

I am still struggling with Windows 10 upgrade and WHEA error. I think I will sent it back to Acer or give it to kids.

When I update the Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 it crushs with WHEA error jus tin the middle of installation process.

I can do a clean Windows 10 installation but then I cannot activate Windows 10.......
