    mysunnysite,

Could you provide the monitor you are having an issue with so we can narrow down a solution for you? Smiley Happy

There are a couple things it could be, other than the monitor.

    • Have you connected a different monitor to see if the issue persists?
    • Have you tried a different video connection to see if the issue persists?

There were a raft of different montiors that used a chipset which autosensed the existence of a signal and put the monitor to sleep when the signal was turned off.  That little "flashing blue light" indicator that says that power is available/the montor is standing by is typical of the circuit involved.  I've seen a number of these monitors "go bad" when that circuit begins to fail.  If turning it "all the way off" and letting it sit for a while, makes it more likely that you will be able to get a display on it, than if you just let it go dormant and then restart your computer, or if you are one of those people who just leaves everything turned on and lets it "go to sleep" try making sure all power is off long enough for the chips to cool all the way down (15 min to 30 min) and then try it.  If it works first try after doing that and then begins to fail, you may need a new monitor.

Thank you for replying. I tried what you suggested but to no avail. I have now bought a new monitor and it works just fine. I would have liked a Linux compatible one but will make do with Windows for now as I don't run a business and have Kaspersky free from Barclays Bank which seems to be quite secure.
