S242HL Monitor issues.. need help!

To an Acer pro,

I just recently grabbed the Acer s242HL monitor from a friend's house because he said it didn't work and was going toss it. I immediatly brought it home and plugged it in and it worked perfectly, after a couple days, I went to turn my computer on and the monitor wouldn't turn on (or show picture). I don't understand what the problem may be, when I put the monitor on it's back, I still see the power button on the bottom of the monitor showing orange light on both left and right sides, kind of like a pulse. I was fortunate enough to get power in the monitor again when I had it laying on it's back but when I lifted the monitor back up, the power once again failed.

I need some ideas on what the problem could be, when it's plugged in (by HDMI) to the back of my PC, my PC recognizes the monitor as if it's there still with minimul power. I was thinking of buying a new ac/dc adapter and seeing if that was the case.

Is there anything else I should try before going out and spending money on a possible fail idea of repairing this monitor?

Thanks for your time and help,

Mike.

As of right now, it's working again. So something might be loose in the monitor internally, or the power cord is garbage and needs to be replaced.
