Hi All.  I have taken the e1-472p apart.  After removing 3 ribbon cables, the hard drive was easy to replace.  However, I do not see where the RAM goes - I'm assuming the entire motherboard has to be removed.  Has anyone ever upgraded this specific model type?  The back cover is one solid piece (w/several screws).  Picture is at http://www.mediafire.com/view/7ho31isnflu7dos/inside.jpg

BTW - this is the video to remove the hard drive https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7g4-rTSESY (loud music at first and no verbal instruction)

    Hello,

The dimm slots are located on the bottom side of motherboard (processor side). You have to remove and turn over the motherboard.

Thanks for answering my question all the way from France Smiley Happy  My co-worker is there on holiday right now.  Are there any dangers of damaging connections?  Also, I don't see any screws and will assume the MB, "Pops out".  Thanks again

All, here's the deal.  Follow the video mentioned earlier in this thread.  Looking down at the motherboard, remove the two connectors (bottom-right).  Remove all screws and slowly start popping up edges of motherboard.  Warning-there are two ribbon cables in the back.  You can remove them (I chose not to).  The ports (NIC, USB, Headphone) will require extra patience as they sort of snap in.  Carefully lift the front of the motherboard.  Keep an eye on the wifi - I removed it by taking out the screw and sliding out.  Directly underneath the front of the MB, you will see the RAM slot.  I put in a 4GB 204p PC3-10600 DDR3-1333 SODIMM.  Verify it's the right chip before sealing everything up.  Button down everything and attempt to boot up.  I did so without the laptop keyboard on in order to ensure everything comes up (used external kbd/mouse).  I was able to boot and verify 8GB instead of 4.  The only challenge left is to move Windows 8.1 to my SSD.  The SSD did not come with software and the free tools are complaining.  Acer creates 4-5 partitions.  My work continues.  Hope this helps.  If you are static free or wear a strap, it should go well.  No rushing Smiley Happy
