Iconia A1-830 charging/battery issue

My tablet has worked wonderfully for the last 14 months that I've had it until last week.

The battery was low so I plugged it in and continued to use it. It was charging just fine for about 30 minutes when it stopped recognizing the charge. So I unplugged it and tried a different outlet; it didn't work. I then tried 3 different other chargers and it still wouldn't start charging. I was down to about 1% battery at this point and read the user manual, which suggested a hard reboot. In the middle, or at the end, of the hard reboot, the tablet died. I have not been able to charge or turn it on since. I have tried buying a new battery for it thinking that was the issue. I just replaced the battery and it still will not charge. Could the charging port have stopped functioning all of a sudden like that? Any ideas on what to do?

Can be the USB plug or the battery charger controller on the motherboard.

    I'm not an Acer employee.

What does the battery charger controller look like on the motherboard? Can it be fixed?

IIRC the 830 has the full charging circuit soldered to the motherboard, so there's no reasonable method for replacing or repairing it short of a motherboard swap. Acer will do that for you either under warranty or via their flat rate repair offerings.

How is a hard reboot done?

Press and hold power button until the unit shuts off (that's a full power down, instead of sleep mode), wait a little bit then press the power button to turn it back on.
