I have an Acer PC with Windows 8 and two hard disk partitions. How do I move all my data folders from partition c to partition d.

If I do this how do I make partition d the default for data destination.

You can just open 2 instances of Computer and drag and drop the files from C: to the D drive. To change where files save, this depends on the application. For instance, in Word, you can click File > Options > Save, and it allows you to change the default location where the files save. I hope this is helpful.

Thank you Acer-Blayn for your reply.

I have tried what you suggest. The files do not move but a shortcut link is created in the data partition.

Are you sure that your method works with Windows 8?

If dragging and dropping only creates shortcuts, then highlight what you want to copy, and press Ctrl + C. This will copy the files. Now, navigate to the D: partition, and press Ctrl + P. This will paste the copied files on the D: drive. I hope this is helpful.
