Acer V7 482-PG 9617: Wifi Switch not Working and Touchpad Issues

Hey I recently got my new Acer V7 482-PG 9617 from Costco.ca and I'm loving it so far.

Here's the link for reference: http://www.costco.ca/Acer-Aspire-V7-482PG-9617-Touchscreen-Bilingual-Notebook,-i7-4500U.product.100131534.html

As of right now I just have a few problems with this laptop.

First, the wifi function key (located on the F3 button) doesn't work. This is the function key to toggle the wifi on and off. I verified that the F3 key works and the function key works and everything else on the keyboard works as it's suppose to. Can someone tell me how to fix this?

Another problem I have is the fact that the touchpad's scrolling mechanism is very laggy and the cursor disappears when I scroll using two fingers (the cursor doesn't disappear when I scroll using a mouse). I came from an MSI X460DX with an ELAN touchpad and that one was flawless; from gestures to scrolling, everything was seamless. This synaptics touchpad is definitely not bad but if someone can tell me how to fix this laggy scrolling and the disappearing cursor that would be awesome! To elaborate on the lag, it just happens at the start of the scrolling action. When I begin to scroll using two fingers, there is like a very brief (yet noticable) delay in the onset of the scrolling action. From there on everything is pretty smooth. This is not a major issue but it's definitely annoying.

On a side note, I was browsing through this laptop's drivers on the Acer website and I found that there is also an ELAN driver available for download. This is really weird because I thought the touchpad that came with this laptop is from Synaptics not ELAN. Are the drivers interchangable? I don't want to try changing the drivers because that can cause a potential headache but from my previous experience I do like ELAN a lot more than Synaptics. To get to this driver page, follow this link (http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers#_ga=1.62234478.357465891.1434817932) and search using this SNID (42516124676). Let me know if it's possible to make a switch with these drivers!

I know this is a long post but I wanted to be as specific as possible so I didn't have to spend too much time elaborating in the replies. If these issues can get resolved then this would be the perfect laptop.

Thanks!

    PhatWabbit,

I'm glad that you are enjoying your new notebook (for the most part), let's see if we can increase the experience for you a bit.

The Synaptics touchpad has some additional settings that can be adjusted. What you are describing sounds like the Smart Sense settings need to get adjusted. To get to the Synaptics touchpad properties, go to the control panel and open up the mouse settings. Once it is open there should be a tab on the far right that says Synaptics, and in that tab should be properties. Clicking that will open a Window that will/should provide many settings to adjust. I believe the 2nd fromt he bottom should be the section that you are looking for.

The communication button requires two buttons to be pressed, the Fn+F3 key, if you are not using that combination.
