P7305W remote distance issue

We bought a new P7305W and have it in our church suspended from the ceiling. The problem is the remote will not work unless you are directly under the projector. The projection desk is about 30 feet from the projector with no obstructions and unless you are eiher right in front or directly under the projector, it won't respond. We replaced an old projector that you could hit from just about anywhere. We really need to be able to control the projector from this position.

I chatted with Acer support and they said it should work, but it does not.

    kapok,

It is an IR remote, if there is no line of sight path, it will not work right. It looks like the receiver is right next to the power button on the projector. Also, just because, perhaps the battery needs to be replaced as well if you have had it a while?

Justin, thanks for replying. The projector is brand new, as is the remote, and the batteries in it. I did replace the batteries anyway, to no avail.

It's baffling why you have to be literally 5-6 feet from the projector in order for the remote to work--like you have to stand directly under or in front of it. Overall, we are really unsatisfied with this projector, and not just for this issue, given the money we spent on it.

    kapok,

Sorry to hear it's not a stellar experience so far, but if that IR receiver on the projector only has line of site in certain spots it's going to be a constant problem. Smiley Frustrated
