Strange keyboard issue?

Hi everyone.
I'm having a strange issue with my acer keyboard.
When I turned my laptop on earlier it was working perfect, and then, I must have clicked something and suddenly my keyboard just lost it.
At first it would only type the vowels (but would type them like á é í ó ú) and typing the number 4 becomes the € symbol.

This led me to believe that the alt and/or ctrl key must be stuck but after a really good cleaning I am 100% sure that isn't the issue.

Now the keyboard is doing something different, for example, I'm currently in the control panel, and when I type the letter H (which previously wasn't working at all), it brings up the help menu, The letter E brings up the edit menu, ect. the vowels are no longer working now either.

I've looked online myself for a solution, cleaning the keyboard, checking the sticky keys, using a usb keyboard (which I thought would work, but it just done the same thing as the keyboard on my laptop is doing, which I thought was really odd).

Has anybody ever encounted this? I'm really hoping this is fixable Smiley Sad

Any questions, please feel free to ask!
Thanks in advance!

The symptoms you describe are the result of pressing Ctrl+Alt+vowel. The Ctrl+Alt addition also produces the third character on relevant keys - € and ¦.
Given that the problem is repeatable using an external keyboard suggests that the issue is not with the keyboard but software.

It may be worthwhile checking all settings/menus in 'Region and Language'. Perhaps try switching keyboards and immediately switching back.
Also confirm that both 'Change Key Sequence' fields are set to 'Not Assigned'.
