H236HL Flickering When Waking

My H236HL is connected to a new MacBook Pro. When the MacBook is connected and woken up from sleep it flickers repeatedly before the Acer connects. The amount of times that it flickers and the time between flickers varies every time - sometimes it doesn't happen at all.

Does anybody know if there is a setting I could adjust in the menu or if this is an issue inherent with the monitor/mac combination? Ideally it would wake from sleep, both monitors would start, and I could immediately get to work. Thanks

Do you have any other monitor than the Acer to try it?

Yes I've tried 2 different Macs with this screen and both have the flickering issue. I've tried those same Macs with other screens using HDMI and they don't have this issue.

For now I've switched to using the VGA cable with an adapter for Mac and I haven't had the issue. I think there may be a compatability issue with Mac computers HDMI and this unit.
