Locked drive accessible in other PC but not on laptop it was locked on

As stated in earlier posts, I have an Acer Brick, series e1-531.

BIOS detects the drive but still considers it 'frozen'.

I have tried entering the 'master' password of 32 spaces; the end result is the laptop will attempt to boot Windows - WITHOUT prompting for a HDD password.

Booting in Safe Mode reveals that Windows is getting to disk.sys, BSOD, then reboot.

I can force the laptop to boot from a Win7 DVD by hotplugging the HDD in after BIOS initialisation, however the HDD is then not detected by the installation software. I have hotplugged the HDD into a different PC, which resulted in me being able to access the drive and both partitions without prompting for passwords.

Is this then an indication of something deeper within the laptop itself?

Or is this some weird consequence of the HDD password debacle I've been battling for 2 days now?

Normally, once you reset the HDD password, this will not happen again; if it's still happening i suspect some HDD failure.

hotplug an HDD doing installation or BIOS boot is not the safest thing to do on HDD.

    I'm not an Acer employee.
