Power Issue with the Acer Aspire 8940G

Acer Aspire 8940G laptop.  I was on the laptop and it suddenly snapped off.  Tried the regular power supply options to make it turn back on, nothing is working.  What is going on so far or symptoms:

No power light on the computer when the AC adapter is plugged in

When you plug in the power adapter, the green light comes on but once you plug it into the laptop, the green light on the adapter goes off.

Computer will not power on at all, I think because the battery is dead and the AC adapter is not able to charge or turn on the computer.

I am thinking it is a power jack issue and may need a power jack replacement.

Thoughts?

    sydn2u,

Let's see if we can narrow this down a bit for you. I really wouldn't be concerned that the power jack has an issue, but to make sure there are a couple things to check:

Is the connection loose when you have the AC adapter plugged in?

Can you see the pin inside the connection port?

I doubt it's the wall outlet, but you can try to plug it into another outlet just to make sure. If the AC adapter light is going off when you plug it into the notebook, it sounds like the AC adapter that has shorted out. If your check of the things above are not an issue, I would suggest you go to our Acer Store and purchase a 120W adapter, which is the one that shipped with your notebook, I believe that this one will work.
