Has anyone been able to install an over the counter fan to the tower of an Aspire TC-605 ? This desktop does not come out with one and i expect in the warmer wheather the heat will affect it. I wonder if the fan is simply connected to the mother board with no fuss as i am not particularly skillfull enough to perform surgery on a computer.....thanks for any assistance..

Are you talking about adding a case fan or are you talking about replacing the stock CPU fan with a better fan?

I don't think the warmer weather will affect it.  According to your manual, the ATC-605 has an operating tempurature of 5-35 degrees C (41-95 F). These temperatures are the room temps.  So as long as your room stays below 95 degrees Fahrenheit, you'll be within range.

I would leave the CPU fan alone if you're not overly tech savvy.  I've seen people replace their stock CPU fan and cause more harm than good because they didn't know what they were doing.  What typically happens is they remove the heatsink and don't realize they've messed up the thermal paste on the heatsink/cpu.  My neighbor removed his cpu fan and heat sink and actually destroyed his circa 2006 AMD CPU.  I told him he messed up his thermal paste and he replied, "What's thermal paste?" Your ATC 605 CPU has a self protection feature and it will shut itself down to idle before it destroys itself if it were to ever get too hot.

It is possible to add a case fan and connect it to one of the available molex connectors off of the power supply.  It won't have automatic speed control.  It will be "always on" when your computer is turned on.  But I really don't think you need an additional case fan.  Modern electronics are designed to operate at much higher temperatures than they used to be.  Anyway, I'm pretty sure that there's not an available port on the motherboard to connect a case fan that would allow automatic speed control.  But you would just need to screw it (attach it) in on the side of the case and connect to molex.

You can check your CPU temperature and motherboard temp with Soluto.  Soluto is one of the apps that came pre-installed on your computer. The UEFI/BIOS will also show you your temps.

I guess I would consider adding a case fan if the CPU temp ever went over 69 degrees C (156 F).

    I'm not an Acer employee.
