HI ALL

I am probably somewhat older than most of you, but love my computer and am doing my utmost to keep up with all new technologies, but I have hit a couple of problems which are driving me nuts as i have been unable to sort them out myself and I hate being beaten by a machine!

  I recently purchased an Acer Aspire XC-605 desktop with Windows 8.1 which I am gradually getting to grips with , though if I am honest I still prefer my old Windows 7.

I am having problems with some of my existing software including Quark xPress 6.1 which keeps telling me it is out of memory and crashing - WHY?

But I also have a bigger problem and have posted  details under desktops section - my microphone is not working , making it impossible for me to skype my daughter and her family in Oz. 

Any help very much appreciated.
