What Kind of PCI/e Sound Card

I have an Acer AX1430G-UW30P.  It has the original Windows 7 Home Premium load from factory.   I'm not sure what happen but one day the sound stopped working on both the front and back panels.   There was a red X and it showed no audio device.  Figuring the drivers were corrupted, I backed up the system and did a restore to factory settings and still no audio.  The red X was gone, the drivers showed in control panel 1) AMD High definition and 2) Realtek High Definition.  The properties both show enabled and working.  So I tried step by step troubleshooting.  As a matter of fact, I tried everything under and over the sun NO AUDIO.  When I go into the control panel and open the Realtek HD Audio Manager it shows this:  "You are seeing a blank page because there is no audio device plugged in the system.  To activate GUI, please plug an audio device in the system."  3 speaker systems and 5 headphones later, still no sound.  I updated the drivers, uninstall and installed, tried 1 at a time, still no audio.  So it must be the systemboard although it makes absolutley no sense to me when the USB ports work on both the front and back panel and it's all integrated.

I'm trying to replace the soundcard by putting one in the PCI/e slot.  However, evertime I call the manufactuer of a card to confirm it's compatibility, I'm sent a sound card for the standard tower unit.  Again, this is a mini tower so the length of the card is not as long as the standard tower unit.  Can someone please recommend the name brand of a sound card to fit properly in this unit?
