How can I get my computer to recognize that it IS a touchscreen?

My Veriton Z2610G does not have its touchscreen turned on. I found in the system settings that it does not have Pen and touch available. However, this computer is definitely a touchscreen, which is why I bought it. How do I get the correct drivers installed for my computer to work as intended?

What hardware or software have you changed recently?

Have you attempted to restore the system to factory defaults?

Upgraded to Windows 8, then downloaded and installed the touchscreen drivers from Acer. I haven't tried to restore to factory because of the upgrade, hoping I wouldn't have to. Besides, the touchscreen didn't work before the upgrade, either. I just thought that the Windows7 that was there just didn't recognize it. The help system says that Pen and Touch are turned on by default, but on this system it says they are not available.

If it's not being recognized as a touch screen in the shipping OS, you have a problem.
