Aspire 5100 CPU upgrade

Hi all, I'm Bogdan. Please help.

 

I own an Aspire 5100 which I want to upgrade. CPU, Memory, perhaps HDD. For the moment the laptop has:

 

Processor
    Name            AMD Turion 4 Mobile MK-36
    Codename        Richmond
    Specification        AMD Turion(tm) 64 Mobile Technology MK-36
    Package         Socket S1 (638)


    product            Aspire 5100
    BIOS version            V2.50

It's unclear for me what CPU can I use for upgrade.

 

Please advice.

    Hello.

    Sorry for the delay in response.

    I've actually fixed and sold about 5 of these laptops.

    The most cost effect processor I've found was the TL-60 which you can buy off of ebay for about 5 dollars.

    .

    The Aspire 5100 and 5515 are good laptops; however, a common thing I see amoung these laptops is that dust collects on the fans and need to be cleaned out ever year. The cleaning can be done with compressed air.

    Which means that if the laptop turns off after about a minute of use or simply doesn't turn on completely dust on the fan and heatsink grill might be the reason why.

    Reseating the heatsink might be required too.
