H7531D: Lamp only working in normal orientation (error when attached to the ceiling)

Hi @all! :-)

I got the weirdest error today: My trusty H7531D projector shuts down with a lamp error (beeps and lamp led) when fixed to the ceiling or turned on its back. However, the lamp works just fine when the projector is standing in regular orientation (i.e. on its feet).

More info: The lamp is well beyound its predicted livespan (4100 hours), but working great (when the projector is not turned on its top). Resetting all settings and the lamp counter has not changed a thing. It doesn't matter whether the orientation setting is changed, set manually or to auto. It is possible to turn the projector around while running without any problem. Even switching it on and off works. However, cutting the power and restarting it leads to the aforemntioned lamp error whenever the projector is on its back - as if there was some lamp-check performed and failed during startup...

Any hints/help would be apprectiated... THX :-)

    JAW,

That almost sounds like there is some internal parts that are coming in contact with each other when turned upside down, maybe. If you are comfortable with it, you can open the cover up and check the cabling near the fan. I'm looking at the service guide and it looks like there is a white cable that could go around the outside of a boss (plastic) rather than the inside. I wish I could provide a picture, the white cable has a black connector as part of it, if that helps.
