Hi! I have an Acer Aspire One D270 Netbook.
My hard drive died a week ago so i bought a new one and reinstalled windows 7 starter on it.
My problem is that, when i tried to look for my product key which is under the netbook, some letters and numbers already faded away.
Is there a way to recover my lost product key? I can provide a SNID/Serial for my netbook for proof purposes.
thanks.
Also i can't request for an eRecovery disk since it says it only supports a netbook/laptop with an optical drive in it.
FAQ & Answers
ayzal09,
There is no way to be able to get you the product key. You can still see if the recovery media for your unit is available for purchase, you'll have to contact the technical support in your area. If it comes on disc format you can just plug in an external optical drive to your unit and use them as needed.
I have a 5517 and the recovery software is on the hard drive. If I use the recovery built on the hard will it have the key or, will it too ask for the key?
kc0zhl,
If you use the built in recovery it will not ask for the product key.
What shouls I do if built-in recovery does not solve booting problem. I used Windows8.1 before. Product key is unknown for me as Windows was preintalled. Can Acer provide me with this key?
Zenonas,
If you are having boot problems and a recovery to factory defaults did not resolve the issue you might be having a hardware problem, such as a bad hard drive.
