My sons Aspire V5-552P is locking up. He did a restore but still is having problems. When he runs SFC /SCANNOW or Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth he receives an Error 87 reffering to the source path. How does he fix the source path?

reading around the web, it looks like some windows update are corrupted or the computer can't connect to the windows update server.

    can you check both?

is you V5 connected to the web when running the DISM check?

When I Open the log file it seemed pretty large. I did  find a number of errors , They all seem to be centered around wuindex.xml

    and update.ses

Here are some of the errors:

Info                  CBS    Not able to add file to extract: update.ses [HRESULT = 0x80070002 - ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND]

apart trying another restore pressing ALT+F10 at boot, i'm out of ideas.

Have you tried to create an USB recovery media from the Acer erecovery tool?

    does it work?

We have tried every method of recovery available. The Thumb Drive was created off of the laptop. It appears the problem is in the recovery image on the laptop. I just purchased a recovery thumbdrive from Acer.We will try wiping the pc and starting from scratch when it arives. Thanks for your help Ironfly.

    You welcome. Smiley Happy

yes, it looks like something corrupted the recovery.

remember to full wipe your HDD, prior to use the USB recovery media from Acer.
