Clarification for Sync

I am already connected to gmail for Syncing the E700 and now I see that Acer have on their website a PC app to allow syncing and PIM. The instructions say that -

  • Phone to Cloud (Google services)

You can perform the cloud sync with just a few clicks on your Acer phone which is pre-installed with AcerSync software. For some Acer phone models which are not pre-installed with AcerSync, please follow the Installation Guide to install the AcerSync from this website to your PC and transfer the software to your phone on the installation process.

  • PC to Phone via USB cable or WiFi

Please follow the Installation Guide to install the AcerSync software from this website to your PC.

Well, I can't find any specific app on my E700 to create a sync other than the standard google / gmail syncing features, these work, but should I be searching for yet another app on my phone, if so, what is it called?

For PC to phone, I have installed the software, connected the phone, and it's not finding the phone, only giving me option to connect to a Google Server....so do I connect to that account that's on my phone already or do I try and find why the physical connection to my phone is not working - .net is already installed.

I've done loads of syncing with different devices and OS over many years since Windows Mobile, but this one is for some reason a bit confusing. Thanks in advance for any help.

Edit: Just to add that I went to the Acer USB driver download page at http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers and unzipped the file, went to look for the .exe but there are only the other files, no setup.exe or install.exe ???? Tried to download it twice now with same results, checked in AV quarantine.  All suggestions appreciated.
