Hello All,

I really like my Acer SW5 012, except for one thing: the 32gb solid state drive is too small. I've had mine for a good 6 months now and done various workarounds and experimented, but basically conclude that a larger hdd is needed.

The purpose of this post is to solicit your solitions. How did you overcome the limits of the hdd?  Here are some things I tried:

1. added a micro sd card.

2. moved OneDrive to the micro sd.

3. moved default save locations for docs, videos, photos and music to the micro sd.

After doing this I was able to get about 9.5 gb free space. I run pretty light on apps and programs. I do have a subscription to MS Office,. I added Adobe Reader. Most of the original apps and programs are still on the hdd.

The problem with that workaround was that my battery was going down fast and I think it was because of the sd card being in the slot constantly.  I eventually took out the sd card and did a complete reinstall from the recovery sector through pc settings.

After that I discovered that I had about 11.5gb free. Strange. But good. Battery life also seemed to improve. No draining while idle.

Have been using it without the sd card since. Now, all of the sudden, the hdd only has 7.5gb free. Not sure why. Checked OneDrive and changed a setting to only store filed in the cloud and not locally. My OneDrive has many gb of files. That did nothing.

So. I am back at square 1 hoping you will help me with a longer term solution. Maybe I don't need more gb than 7.5 free. But, I feel like it's not enough. Have no idea why I lost 4gb, unless the windows updates are taking all my free space.

Forum....I ask for your wise counsel.
